The day started with song and dance as the children sang in welcome of the Messianic Hope International team visiting their center on the 30th of January, Sunday afternoon.

As a young man, Mr. Honey Munyiri, the Director of Bridge of Hope Children’s home, took it upon himself to get to know the children in his village living in the streets. In doing so, he began gathering foodstuff from well-wishers and started supplying food for these children weekly. This was how Bridge of Hope Children’s Home came to be. Today, over 100 children are cared for and brought up with love in the different Bridge of Hope Homes headed by Mr. Munyiri. The special meaning behind the name of these Homes is also particularly moving. “To become the bridge between a place of despair and helplessness to a place of hope and a future says, Mr. Munyiri.” “I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to have partners such as MHI who have shown us in practice the scripture verse in James 1:27 (Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world).”

This partnership was made possible by one of our team members in Kenya, Pastor Jackson Kimani, the resident pastor of Messianic Assemblies of Yahweh Gilgil. He and his church members have been doing volunteer work/ services for the Homes since 2020. The MHI team in Kenya and several members of this local Assembly enriched this day by delivering food/grocery supplies, preparing and serving meals, and engaging in fun physical activities with the children.

Many of the children who end up in Homes like Bridge of Hope were either abandoned, total or partial orphans, or children facing abuse and/or neglect. The maximum number of children recommended in a typical four-bedroom house in Kenya is 20. This is to ensure safe accommodation for children. Space expansion, basic living amenities, clothing, food/grocery supplies, and around-the-clock caregivers are some of the most vital necessities to operate a Home successfully. We hope to continue this partnership in the future in support of the life-changing efforts that Bridge of Hope continues to make for this community. Many other Homes such as these continue to make a difference in many children’s lives. We ask you to join us in this effort of being a bridge of hope.
